“Remembering Venice” – Original Quilt Design

Quilt Inspiration – I made this quilt to commemorate our 30th wedding anniversary trip to Venice.  Blue and red seem to be the traditional colors of Venice-gondaliers wear blue-and-white or red-and-white striped shirts. The traditional carnival masks tend to use a red or blue diamond patterns, so I knew those would be the predominant colors in the quilt.

“Burano Sampler” Quilt – An Original Quilt Design

Quilt Inspiration – This Burano Sampler quilt was inspired by the many colorful houses on the island of Burano in the Venetian Lagoon. Each of the houses on Burano is painted a different bright shade, so that as you are walking through the town, it feels like you are in the middle of a big box of crayons.

“Step Into My Garden” – A Perfectly Imperfect Watercolor Quilt Design

This was one of the first quilts I started, and many years later, once the kids were off to college and I had more time, it was also one of the first quilts I finally finished. It also taught me that there can still be beauty in imperfection, even if the mistake is huge.

‘This Is Africa” – Original Quilt Design

Quilt Inspiration – I found this original African fabric panel at a quilt show and knew I would need to use it in my African inspired quilt as a colorful reminder of my first trip to Africa. On that first trip, I only took the quilt top to photograph due to space and luggage weight limitations. On that Africa trip I also bought a batik panel at one of the road side vendors which I used on the back of the quilt. By the time I went back to Africa on my most recent trip, the quilt was finished and I took it back with me so I could photograph it complete on location. “My Merry Christmas Quilt” – Original Quilt Design

Like my treasured Christmas ornaments, my Christmas quilt comes out once a year. When it finally hangs on my family room wall, then I know that the Christmas season has finally begun. And like many of my quilts, I made the back interesting so that I can display it also.
