A long weekend getaway to the Finger Lakes in the Fall is the best way to discover wines for every taste, cute small towns and plenty of history and scenery.

One of my favorite experiences was discovering the area around the Finger Lakes in the fall a few years ago. My husband and I chose a long Finger Lakes weekend getaway in mid October and found that to be a wonderful season to explore the region. Whether you are looking for a long weekend away, a scenic road trip, or just want a getaway that offers a variety of activities, I think the Finger Lakes has it all. There are wines for every taste, cute small towns to discover and plenty of history and scenery to enjoy.

Beyond the Waterfalls – Visiting Niagara Falls, USA

Visiting Niagara Falls, NY is so much more than just seeing the impressive water falls.

Cool off on a hot day as the wind sprays mist in your face. Feel the raw power reverberate through your body as millions of gallons of water flow by so close that you can practically touch it. Taste award winning wines and beers. Or walk in the footsteps of revolutionary war soldiers or escaping Civil War slaves. A long weekend in Niagara Falls, NY gave me all these sensory experiences and so much more.

PhotoPOSTCard: Sending a Vase Full of Hope

Every fall I plant a few bags of tulip bulbs in my garden. I think of them as little packages of hope and promises that will bring color and sunshine after a drab and cold winter. Once they bloom, I cut them and bring them into the house where they bring me joy and make me smile. These days, it’s the little things that make one happy that are all that much more important.

From my family to yours, wherever you are in the world, here’s hoping you have a joyous and safe weekend and if you celebrate it, a happy Easter or Passover.

I love foxglove flowers and have tried to grow them, but we do not really have the right conditions here in southeast PA. They like cooler weather and we get hot and humid pretty quickly in summer. Here at Longwood Gardens they start them early and grow them in their greenhouses under the appropriate environment.
