Quilt Inspiration – Here in the Brandywine Valley, I am surrounded by some of the county’s most beautiful public gardens. With this quilt, I am celebrating the lazy hot days of late summer when the flowers are at their peak bloom.

I used Kaffe Fassett flowery fabrics in contrasting shades of pink and yellow in an easy half-square triangle pattern.

For the back, I used leftover blocks and fabric strips to make an interesting striped pattern. You can read about this technique and others that I use to make my backs as interesting as the front on my post Ideas for Unique Pieced Backing for Quilts.

The quilt was quilted by Cindy Carey of North Star Longarm Quilting.

I photographed the quilt at Longwood Gardens among some of the many beautiful flower displays.
