One of the Rothschild’s giraffes at Nairobi’s Giraffe Center checks out the other side of my African inspired quilt. Couldn’t tell if he liked it or not.
Quilt Inspiration – Whereas the “front” side of my African quilt has a landscape orientation, the “back” side has a portrait orientation. The small postcard-like panels were actually part of a large printed batik panel that I purchased in Zanzibar last summer. The small panels showed different African scenes.
I photographed the quilt at Nairobi’s Giraffe Centre, a facility that promotes the protection of the Rothschild giraffe.
The quilting was done by Cindy Carey of North Star Longarm Quilting.
