PhotoPOSTcard: In Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar

Istanbul's' Grand Bazaar

Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar is one of the city’s top tourist attractions, but a first time visit can be quite overwhelming to all of the senses.

The core of the bazaar was built in the middle of the 15th century and has since grown to an unimaginable size. It is purported to have 61 streets with over 4000 shops and attracts over 300,000 visitors each day. The sheer amount of merchandise is overwhelming as is the constant barrage of comments and cat calls by the shop owners vying for your attention. Still, it is a must visit sight when in Istanbul, even if only for a short time. And if you do decide to buy something, make sure to bargain.

Thanks for visiting,
