I have been posting many individual Big Bend photos from my recent visit to the Big Bend National Park area of Texas. I have gathered up 25 of my favorites into this one post for your enjoyment and reference. So let my Big Bend photography inspire your next visit to one of my favorite National Parks.
It takes a little effort to get to Big Bend National Park but the scenery is worth the effort. Big Bend National Park was the first national park west of the Missiissippi that I visited with my young family when we first moved to Texas, so it will always have a special place I my heart. I found it no less exciting when I visited again many years later.
There are plenty of things to do in the Big Bend area and in the gateway communities to keep you busy for quite a while. I recently visited in early September which turned out to be a perfect time of year. It wasn’t that hot any more and the park had hardly any visitors.
The Big Bend area is also a very large International Dark Sky Park which makes it perfect for viewing the milkyway from horizon to horizon. The other advantage to visiting in September is that the milyway is easily visible right after sunset so you do not have to stay up until the middle of the night to see it.
