Quilt Inspiration – The fabric colors for the front of this bohemian quilt pattern was inspired by the colorful houses in the towns and villages along Germany’s Romantic Road. I used various whimsical Tula Pink quilt fabrics which I felt captured the storybook bohemian feel of the area.
My Bohemian quilt pattern
I wanted to make a quilt that was fun, colorful, and quick and easy to put together. I also wanted to capture the fantasy feel of German castles that we were visiting.
The design is very easy and just makes use of half square triangles and pre cut charm packs. Or, it could also be done with scraps.
For the back, I used leftover blocks, fabric and border fabric to achieve the striped look.
Longarm quilted by Cindy Carey of North Star Quilting.
Photographed on my stops in Fussen, Germany; Reute, Austria; and at Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany.
You can discover some of my other quilt designs in my Quilt Gallery or check out my post Around the World in 25 Travel Quilts.
