“The Two Faces of Faith”
In the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, visitors prostrate themselves on the Stone of Anointing where it is believed that Jesus’ body was prepared for burial, while one of the church’s Christian orthodox nuns stands behind them looking at her cell phone.
2nd Place – Landscape Category
“The Grand Prismatic Spring”
The Grand Prismatic Spring is one of the most colorful hot springs at Yellowstone National Park. The best way to see it is to take the short hike to the overlook from the adjacent hillside.
2nd Place – Raw Food
“How Do You Say Tomato”
The French really know how to display heirloom tomatoes at a street market.
Honorable Mention – People of Food
“The Fresh Sushi Chef”
On the outskirts of the old Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo you can find little restaurants that serve the freshest sushi. Here, a chef puts the finishing touches on our order of sushi served on a plate of ice.
Honorable Mention – Vineyards
“Crimson and Clover, Over and Over”
In the Tualatin Valley near Portland, Oregon, a newly planted vineyard is underplanted with red clover to keep the weeds at bay.
