tree swallow on nest box in Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve

Last Updated on 10/16/20 by Rose Palmer

Photo Location – A tree swallow finds a home in one of the many nest boxes in the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve outside of Hillsboro, Oregon.

The preserve becomes a home to many migratory birds, including these tree swallows. They spend the summers in most of North America and then winter over along the Gulf coast and into the Northwestern coast of South America. Tree swallows will usually return to their previous nesting site and they will readily use man made nest boxes, especially if they are located in an open area near water.
