London is one of my favorite cities to visit. It’s busy and vibrant and easy to get around in. The city also offers great opportunities for fun photography. These are some of my favorite London photos that showcase those experiences that make this great city so special for me.
These are some of my favorite London photos
If Van Goh had painted the London skyline it might have looked something like this, looking across the Thames toward Big Ben and Parliament from the Westminster Bridge.

The view from the Westminster Bridge in the other direction is also pretty at sunset.

Big Ben and the distinctive “dolphin” lamp posts that line the south embankment of the Thames.

Walking along the Thames – views of St. Paul’s Cathedral and a wedding portrait photo shoot.

The centuries old St. Paul’s Dome is reflected in a new glass shopping mall across the street.

A view of St. Paul’s and the Millennium Bridge.

The Changing of the Guards Ceremony at Buckingham Palace is a quintessential London sight.

Wearing a top hat, tails and a tie, David is the first person shoppers encounter as they enter Fortnum and Mason. His job-open the door with a smile so you don’t have to. This is my favorite spot for a traditional English afternoon tea.

I’ve had afternoon tea in various locations in London, but my favorite is always Fortnum and Mason.

Mews houses were former stables or carriage houses and are scattered throughout the city. I think there must be an unwritten law that all London’s mews streets have to be picturesque.

Blooming wisteria seem to cling effortlessly to the sides of buildings in a residential London street in the Notting Hill neighborhood.

The colorful buildings on Portobello Road.

And the colorful buildings in the Notting Hill neighborhood.

It seems like every corner has a flowery bedecked Pub or Public House.

Red is definitely a predominant color in London.

The Chihuly chandelier hangs in the entry atrium of the Victoria and Albert Museum. Entry to the museum is free so it is easy to pop in for a short time and check out a few exhibits.
The beautifully restored St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel is a pleasure to look at as well as stay at.

The 30 foot statue by Paul Day called “The Meeting Place’ in the St. Pancras train station.
The stunning roof architecture of the concourse at King’s Cross train station.

Much photographed red phone boxes on Broad Court in the Covent Garden area.

The equally much photographed colorful Neal’s Yard, also in the Covent Garden area.

London is known for its high quality theater scene, with many booking agencies that offer inexpensive last minute tickets. I had good luck purchasing with Encore Tickets.

Each time I am in London, I try to see a performance at the Royal Albert Hall. Despite its size, it still feels intimate, not to mention, also historic.

The London Eye has become one of the iconic images for the city. It is quite photogenic, especially at Christmastime.

The Tower Bridge seems to be full of traffic at all hours of the day and night.

I think the iconic Tower Bridge looks better when it is all lit up at night.

The view from the 32nd floor Oblix restaurant and bar in the Shard is spectacular-especially once the sun has set. And the food is really good as well.

Another great aerial view s from the top of the London Eye, if you don’t mind heights.

Each time I visit London, I discover more photogenic spots that are unique to this city. I guess I’ll just have to add more photos after my next visit.
